Most Wikis have a type of "community place" that is used to discuss policies, general needs of the site, and to find technical as well as editorial help. This is either done at a place called [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:VP Village pump] or at the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Community_Portal Community Portal]. Since in our case the Community Portal is used for other purposes I combined the function of those two sections into one.
Somebody recently remarked that "the wiki scares the public crowd off." [http://community.bistudio.com/wiki?title=User_talk:Kronzky&diff=prev&oldid=19287]

The purpose of a place like this is to improve communication between submitters, editors & administrators.
Is that really the case? How was your first impression when coming to this Wiki. What were the major hurdles you can to overcome? Have you heard any responses from other people regarding this (or other) Wikis?

Discussions that might be of interest to lots of participants often get lost on some remote talk page, pages that are work-in-progress might get forgotten, or people willing to assist might not quite know ''where'' the most help is needed at a particular moment. So these pages are supposed to be the one central place where all those communications could come together.
I set up a page where you can leave your experiences, and where we can discuss what to do to make this place a bit less "scary" and how to flatten that learning curve a bit: [[Village Pump (technical): New Users]]
