Overview

Targeting systems and aids in Arma 3

Main thread

Target Acquisition and Tracking

Sensors

Some vehicles can be equipped with sensors ("scanners" in config) that allow the crew to detect, identify and track targets.

Usage (default):
  • "T" - to mark target under the cursor
  • "R" - to cycle through available targets (may not always be available)
Indication:
  • A marked target, tracked and visible, is indicated by square brackets.
  • Once the marked target moves out of the sensor's line-of-sight or becomes masked its position becomes only estimated and the indication changes into a dashed square.
  • A full square indicates that the currently selected weapon is able to acquire a lock and be guided on the target
  • To improve crew combat awareness some vehicles are able to display targets acquired and tracked by a specific sensor at all times - such are indicated by a dotted cross. In vanilla content this is limited to indication of lased targets.

Different types of sensors can be used against different types of targets.

Some vehicles are able to track and display multiple targets at once

Radar

Imaging (Targeting Pods)

  • "Ctrl+T" - to switch the TGP into Area or Point lock mode
